Our History

1984 was a great year for California red wines, Mary Lou Retton, President Ronald Reagan and Stanley, Idaho. Where does Stanley, Idaho fit into this list, you ask? 1984 was the year that two brothers, Jerry and Tim Cripe combined their knowledge and passion of vehicle repair and $600.00 and established Stanley Truck and Auto Repair in the scenic central Idaho town of Stanley. They spent two summers in Stanley and spent the winters in Boise, where they gradually built a client base of commercial accounts starting with Idaho Power Company and Coors Distributing Company.

In 1989 they incorporated and changed the business name to Idaho Fleet Service to better reflect their main focus of commercial fleet vehicle maintenance and repair. Their  experience and expertise allowed them  to work on vehicles ranging from light duty cars and trucks to class 8 tractor trailers and construction equipment.

The Cripe brothers’ knowledge, passion and work ethics started at a very early age. Their father and grandfather both were mechanics for Morrison-Knudsen Co. M-K was a major construction company based in Boise, Idaho. Their father was a field mechanic and worked on many road construction and dam projects in the northwest. He taught his sons from an early age how to repair and maintain anything mechanical. It did not matter what you repaired, it was all nuts and bolts it just required different sizes of wrenches to do the job. They were taught to treat the equipment or vehicles that they serviced as their own. These early lessons carried over into their business philosophy, work ethic and customer service.

In 2003 Idaho Fleet Service and the Cripe brothers fulfilled the dream of owning their own shop facility. After nearly 20 years of make do shops with less than desirable office areas they designed and had built a state of the art shop facility with 9600sf of shop area and 2100sf of office space. Their shop is located in Meridian, Idaho at 265 N. Baltic Pl.
